Theatres
Deutsches Schauspielhaus
Classics, musical productions, contemporary pieces: the German Playhouse's repertoire is diverse, so choosing what to see is not always easy. But a visit to Germany's largest playhouse is always worthwhile - especially since it's right next door to our hotel.
Thalia Theatre
The Thalia Theatre is one of the three Hamburg State Theatres, a thespian stage with a fixed and highly acclaimed ensemble. This large theatre near the Alstertor in Hamburg's Old Town seats approximately 1,000 people. The repertoire includes some 20 productions which alternate daily or are performed in blocks.
Ohnsorg Theatre
The Ohnsorg Theatre is Germany's most popular Low German folk theatre. Regular television broadcasts and icons such as Heidi Kabel, Heidi Mahler and Henry Vahl have made this theatre famous throughout Germany. The repertoire of the Ohnsorg Theatre primarily features comedies and farces. The classics are performed, as well as serious pieces highlighting the many facets of the Low German (Plattdeutsch) language.
